A tortured soul finds peace?

Reading all the reports in the newspaper and online from people that knew Heath Ledger, a very different image of him is appearing than I originally had.
I'd been of the opinion that Heath was cocky and arrogant and a bit pretentious, after scuffles with the paparazzi and complaining that he can't be left alone. Lots of other celebrities, much more famous than Heath, don't get harrassed or object as violently as he did. It seems that he was a bit of a tortured soul and wasn't entirely comfortable with being a celebrity and was in the business to be creative and work his craft.
The movies I had seen him in I genuinely enjoyed and I can't wait to see "The Dark Knight" where Heath will be seen playing the Joker.
Sleeping tablets, pneumonia and rumours of heroin, anyway you look at it, it's not a pretty picture. I hope he's at peace now.

Bit slow this week

This or that? - Nude with family

Someone I've met recently grew up in a nudist family and spent this last Christmas nude with his father, brothers and uncle. My parents would occasionally walk from the bathroom to the bedroom nude but basically there was no nudity in my family. I wasn't brought up to think there was anything wrong with nudity, but my mother doesn't even understand why people sleep naked.
Did you grow up in a nude family or a more prudish family? Needless to say from all the evidence in this blog, I've overcome my prudishness which was very strong up until about the age of 21-22.

It's about 40 days to Mardi Gras and that means it's time to step up the training and fix the diet. If I'm going to march & dance (& prance) up Oxford Street in tiny Aussiebums again next to some guy who is the walking six pack, I'm going to do it looking as good as I can!

Occasionally charges of superficiality are laid on me and my little blog here because of the large quantity of hot men that have graced these pages. Other bloggers have met with similar accusations. It's also said that magazines and the media of all types are promoting unrealistic images of beauty.
As a typical Libran I'll happily admit I'm almost fatally attracted to things of beauty, and I'm quite comfortable with that, but it certainly doesn't define who I am or who I find value in. Granted I can find myself transfixed in a rather unflattering slack-jawed kind of stare by a beautiful man, but how often have we met that man that we lust after only to find it's not a shoulder pad but a chip on his shoulder, or extreme arrogance turning that gorgeous face into a mere mask hiding someone quite unattractive?
You can count those of my friends who are in the running to be supermodels without raising a finger, but to count the ones who are honest, loving, generous and big hearted all you need to do is say "all of them".
So while some of you may think I'm superficial and vain because I'm conscious of the way I look or rather want to look, I place no such expectations on those around me but I'm constantly surprised at how gorgeous someone can become with a beaming smile on their face.
As a small addition to this post, aren't we all attracted to pretty things? That's why they are "attractive" in the first place.

Have you ever noticed that every now and then, there will be a series of breakups and connections happening at the same time? One friend of yours will find someone and start dating while another couple will be breaking up?
It’s like when a member of your family has a baby and a week later great-grandpa dies after meeting the baby. Is there a quota system going on in the world?
Did Great-grandpa strike a deal so that he could meet the little tyke that is taking his allocated space in the world? Does one couple have to break up to free up the romance quota for the new couple to experience love?
This is the random shit that comes into my head every now and then. One couple that was supposed to come to my place for dinner last night broke up yesterday morning. If this theory is even remotely plausible, does it mean that there is now room for me to join the couple domain?

Sorry for not posting yesterday guys and girls. I had a bit of a faltering start to the day when I got up early to go to the gym, got in my car and had a flat tyre. I seriously could not be arsed to change a tyre at 5:50am so I parked the car again and went back to bed for an hour and a bit.
Then I was booked to work in a publishing company yesterday so worked all day then caught up with friends last night for dinner and DVD's. So blogging time kinda passed me by I'm afraid.
So now, this morning I have to go change my tyre (in the rain) and get the puncture repaired so I can go shopping for groceries to cook for 8 friends tomorrow night.

I've just got home from a trip to the nude beach with a mate, where we ran into another mate of mine. Now, typically for Sydney, both of these boys are in open relationships. Sitting and people-watching when you are on the nude beach is a fun way to pass the time. One thing I've noticed is that if a group of guys arrive and don't get nude, eventually one of them will usually work up the courage to get nude, which sometimes inspires others to do the same.
One day when I was there with two friends, one mate and I stripped off as normal but the other mate, who doesn't usually go to the nude beach, left his swimmers on. Unusually there was no one else on the whole beach wearing swimwear and eventually my friend felt so out of place that he took his swimmers off.

The Barman from Sitges

My comment yesterday about a barman from Sitges that "I may or may not have slept with" was a little misleading. I did sleep with him but was trying to be a little coy. It's not like I can't remember.
I was travelling alone and had the sluttiest two days I've ever had to this day. I'd been drinking in one of the tiny little gay bars in the seaside Spanish town and he was working there, shirtless, looking SPECTACULAR. I wish I did. Taking liberties

For much of 2006 I was regularly going to nude yoga classes, much to the amusement of some of my friends. I was usually one of the youngest guys there and never had a problem with that. However one night an older guy (60-ish I'm guessing) was very chatty before the class and positioned himself next to me. So far no problem whatsoever. The email that these images came through on said that this was the naked cowboy. Now whenever I've seen the naked cowboy in images online he's been some goose wearing bad cowboy boots, big white undies, a cowboy hat and playing a guitar. Now to me, wearing undies means you are not naked. If this is the same guy, he looks much better without the stupid outfit and relaxed on the beach.

It's that time of the year once more. Already here in Sydney we are into the afternoon of New Year's Eve. Looking back on the year I've made some mistakes and hung on to bad energy and insecurities and let people (including haters on here) get to me. It's time to let all that go.
I've been guilty of trying to please everyone on this blog and sometimes the blog has deviated from it's natural course. 2008 will see Aussielicious back to where it fits naturally, a bunch of stuff, me, naked men, Kylie, random observations and definitely a new home.
I'm going to try and be the best friend, brother, son, grandson, uncle and me that I can be and maybe some of that karma will come flowing back. To all the people that have given me so much support and encouragement and even gifts, thank you. I hope your 2008 is filled with all the success and happiness (and nudity?) you can manage. To the people that were negative for the sake of being nasty, I hope you realise that you will see that all come back to you some how.

I had a great day today. All very chilled. I went to the nude beach and was supposed to catch up with someone I've been chatting to online, but for the second time in a row he totally flaked on me.

Falsely advertising your real estate

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this when looking for fresh territories to explore online. You are scrolling through page after page of listings and some of them look mighty appealing, plenty of porch out back, all the fixtures up front and not too much shade under the awnings.
There does appear to be some false advertising going on though. There are guys who clearly list their property as being a rear access only, but only show the front of the lot. Then there are others who say they only use the front door but only show the back porch. What's going on here? Surely there is some law against saying you have a fire hydrant out front if it's barely a garden tap? Some advertise a large rumpus room out the back when really it's a standing room only atrium.
I'm all for truth in advertising. Now who wants a quaint 34 year old renovators delight with a fire hydrant out the front and a generous rumpus room in the back?

Brenton's childhood flashbacks

Watching my niece and nephew get all excited about Christmas was so much fun but after a very long day of over stimulation with noises, lights, toys, food, bells and every other irritating thing, they hit the wall and I was tempted to run for the hills.
I got to thinking about our childhood and how great it was. So I started rummaging through old photos. I'd totally forgotten about this photo, even though I'd heard the story a few times before.
Mum was getting things in the car ready to go out, probably shopping, when I wandered out the back door of our garage into the yard and jumped straight in the wading pool fully dressed. Personally I think I look like I was having fun. Even though at the time Mum would probably have been frustrated, that's the kind of thing that appeals to Mum's sense of humour. She's all for kids being kids. She used to let me put on old clothes if we'd had days of heavy rain and go and have mud fights in the swollen creeks down the road.

Walter Kurtz emailed me these photos he was lucky enough to shoot of scandal creating NYFD Fireman Michael Biserta. I have to say I was stunned at just how hot he looks. He's a good looking guy but these photos take him from beefcake right through to high fashion. Michaels face is surprisingly adaptable and well the body and the package need no introduction.
I didn't know about the tattoo but it looks spectacular. He must have loved his Nonna!

I know the politically correct term is Happy Holidays but I've grown up with Merry Christmas and all the imagery is still the same, apart from maybe these Santas not wearing much.

It's been a year of ups and downs with abundant hate male, more abundant support, silly content warnings, soaring hits, dropping hits, lots of doodles (yes I'm still going to use that word for fun), lots of Kylie, hot men and loads of all my mindless ramblings.

Movie making and photography

I have finally gotten around to playing with iMovie on my computer. I'm easily intimidated by technology and with new software I'll learn the bits that I need to use but I'm not one of those people that sit and learn everything a piece of software can do, which frustrates me sometimes because I'd like to be one of them.
So I've been experimenting with movie making and I put together this little movie of my photography, the hot men of course. I'm not sure why the shots all look blurry, the originals certainly aren't, and it wouldn't be me if I didn't put it to a Kylie song.

When you hear the name Don Bemrose, most of you won't know who that is. Those of you who are Opera lovers should write it down and remember it. You will know it. Don is one of this earth's rare treasures. I haven't heard him sing, so I'm just talking about him as a person, but I'm sure his vocal talents are just as impressive.
Don has a partly Australian Aboriginal heritage and is gunning for the top of the ranks in the opera world. We met during the Mardi Gras rehearsals. I personally thought a gay, aboriginal, opera singing, life coach and life saver would make an interesting interview. Enjoy.

How old were you when you realised you were gay? In retrospect probably grade 1 as the boys and girls were playing catch and kiss and I was very jealous of the girls getting to kiss the boys, really it was about 12/13 i started to think about older boys sexually

Your Mum's family is Aboriginal, did you grow up in a community with other Aboriginals around? locally no - my family were the only abbo's in the village - LOL - I did grow up very closely connected to Aboriginal community in the north of Brisbane and I have a very large extended family that we spent a lot of time with.

Have you ever experienced racism because of your heritage? Massive racism as a kid - it is a lot more under the radar now a days - all Australian's (black and white, born here and immigrated) have a lot to learn about our cultural history before and after Captain Cook and the Penal Colony, that would help acknowledge what is, without fear, hate or condescending attitudes.

In general terms, is the Aboriginal community accepting of homosexuality? I would say the same as the rest of australia some are some are not

How smoothly did your own coming out go with your family? It was more turmoil with coming out to myself. I had so many negative associations to what it was to 'be gay" and I thought that if I were gay I would change into some raving girlie queen. It helped to have a public role model like Ian Roberts (ex Rugby League star) as I am a massive football fan. I don't know him personally and some of your readers may beg to differ but for me he represented someone that was strong, masculine and gay, this helped me to know that I didn't have to become something other than what I already was. My family were amazing, not all smooth sailing but they love me for who I am and continue to be.

There are examples in Australia's history of Aboriginals achieving great success in sport, dance and the arts, do you think your Aboriginal heritage will help you stand out in your quest for success in Opera? In today's society having a point of difference from everyone else, makes you stand out from the pack; just look at the success of the Australian Idol contestants. Being the ONLY male aboriginal Opera singer will definitely set me a part and it may also limit me so I guess we will wait and see. Ask me again in a few years when I have reached critical acclaim and achieved great success. (hehe)

What inspired your interest in Opera? My mother and grandmother showed me a documentary of aboriginal tenor Harold Blair from the 50's and 60's. Though I could not read a note of music nor did i really know what Opera was I made a decision watching that video that I was going to achieve what Harold could not.

Being a driven and focussed guy, what's your timeline for releasing your first Opera CD? 2010 to coincide with my solo production of Gungarri Withoo Dreaming that will be premiered at Performing Arts Festivals around the country that year.

What for you, are the biggest challenges in being a gay man and part of a mistreated and misunderstood racial minority in Australia today? Like any gay man; shave, wax or wild and wooly - LOL -

To educate people that each one of us is responsible for the devastation that is occurring in our communities and together we can do more than any government at local, state or national could ever achieve.

As one of the most positive, upbeat and inspiring people I've ever met, how do you remain so positive? I acknowledge that life is a series of choices towards or away from what I want, like right and left hand turns. I choose the most positive and inspiring ones that will allow me to achieve everything I desire. I search for the positive or educational learning in every event and take myself lightly. LIFE IS A JOURNEY not a destination.

How did you get into life-coaching? I was a Youth Development Officer and come across an amazing personal development company "Christopher Howard Training" I attended their programs and went from there. It seemed like a natural progression. I am now Lead Coach for CHT in the Asia Pacific region.

What general tips can you offer people who might be struggling with their sexuality? Explore and then decide who you want to be and always know you are more than a label.

Over the past few weeks and twice in the last two days I've had guys ask me online for bareback sex. Their profiles say they are negative, when asked they reassure me they are negative, yet they actively seek to take a load in them from a stranger.

I have some disturbing news to break to all the little kids in the world. Santa has had a makeover and he's busted out of the magic Christmas closet.
Lying on the nude beach on Friday afternoon I look up to see a tanned, relatively fit older guy walking along the beach. Shaved head, long white beard, gold hoop earring, no shirt, and red boardshorts.

I've just got home from spending some time with a mate who is a fireman. Over the past few months I've come to a decision. I'm not going to be doing life saving patrols anymore. I joined Bronte surf club 11 years ago and not counting the two seasons I was over in the U.K. this would have been my tenth season on the beach but somewhere along the line I just lost the care factor.
Fingers crossed I'll still be able to do the mardi gras parade with the lifesavers next year. There were former-lifesavers in this year's parade, so I'm sure I can still take part. I've had some great times in the surf club and met some wonderful people but there will be no more staring at the waves wishing everyone would pack up and go home so that I can do the same.

The poll on what kind of relationship we are in seems to prove one thing. It's mainly single people and those in monogamous relationships that have time to read blogs.
Out of 670 respondants, 38% are single, 40% are in monogamous relationships (which gives me a huge amount of hope).
Couples that get their freak on together with extras joining the party made up 10% of the polled people while couples that play seperately represent 6%, couples without rules are 3%, people in three-way relationships and people that play in groups only made up 1% of those polled.

Before I start, I just want to say that I do quite like several of Nicole's movies but she's also made some pretentious crap and boring yawn-fests. I personally called Cold Mountain "Frigid Hump".
My problem is that Nicole has come out recently and openly denied having any work done, botox, fillers, surgery or anything. She claims that because of her fair skin she's never in the sun and she moisturises.
I'm sorry, since when did sitting in the shade prevent you from moving your forehead for the past 8 years? I didn't know that top lips became fuller and less mobile the more moisturiser you use or the less sunshine they got.
Seriously, she's going to have to stop calling herself an actress soon, because her happy face, sad face, angry face, bewildered face and bold lying face are all the same because she can't freaking move it!
NO ONE gets to their early 40's without one wrinkle unless they've never moved a facial muscle. In her old movies she did move those muscles so it seems they've atrophied lately. I don't care if she's had surgery or botox, just don't lie about it.

Tim Campbell, who formerly starred in the long-running soap opera Home and Away, has come out of the closet following reports that he is dating newly-single Australian Idol contestant Anthony Callea. The two have been spotted together around Melbourne. Campbell denies he and Callea are involved.

"Anthony and I are mates - he's had his rough trot, I'm going through a rough trot and I'm really concerned for my (ex) partner. Part of me will probably always love him because 11 years is a lot to share with each other."

Campbell told The Advertiser he doesn't want the announcement to affect his career: "There's nothing in the way of being ashamed about this (but) the label thing worries me a bit because I don't want my work to be affected. If every time I'm written about now it's as 'the gay actor' it would bore the hell out of me. Coming out at 20 changed me a bit, but at 32, I'm pretty comfortable with who I am and what I'm doing."

Aerial pain

Tonight was the last class for this term of Aerial silks class. We were supposed to do a mini show for any friends that wanted to show up. I have been slightly out of whack for the last week or so, with things pissing me off that shouldn't etc and I got to class tonight and was really on edge. I have had WAY too much caffeine today and I literally had the shakes.
So I was practicing some bits and pieces and I went quite high to do a fairly difficult and painful trick that I'd only done once before and I just freaked myself out and didn't do it.
In the end my little mini performance went ok but nothing spectacular. Hopefully I'll have a video and some pics soon!

The planets are definitely out of whack at the moment for me. I'm doing some temp graphic design work for a place that told my agency that they really needed someone... I was sent home early on friday because they'd run out of work, then today nothing had come in so I spent three hours literally doing nothing and left.
I've been trying to register a domain name. The dot com version is already taken, and apparently we have some stupid legislation here in Australia that to register the dot com dot au version you need to have a registered business name or trademark. What's with that?
Then some guy that has been chatting to me online and quite persistently, turns out to be a complete fraud, but that's not uncommon online. All just a bit weird and frustrating. And the weather has been hot and humid, then bucketing down rain for 20 minutes for days...

This or that for this week is a topic that fascinates me. Long time readers all know that I hope to find a monogamous partner to get old with. Whether that will happen is yet to be decided.
I'm always intrigued by the politics and negotiation that goes on within a relationship to make it work and I know couples in all varieties of relationships from monogamous to totally open. Commenters in the past on this blog have said that honesty is the key to their relationship just before explaining why they cheat on their boyfriend but don't want to hurt them.

How to run a successful runway show

I've just spent the last ten minutes watching the above Dsquared runway show and from a deep and thorough study I've come up with the following tips for those new players in the industry wishing to impress with a fabulous show (complete with air kissing and arse kissing).
1) Design some quite sexy and actually wearable clothing but then add so many layers and accessories (including knuckle dusters) that your audience cannot possibly make out what they'd like to buy apart from Chad White.
2) Save money to actually present the show by starving your female models. They will thank you for making them thin and you can erect big industrial scaffolding with the proceeds. They may not have the strength to make it down the catwalk though.
3) Feed your dobermans the steaks that the female models won't touch, it stops them mistaking the models for the bones they've buried in the past.
4) Maximise your Chad White exposure by only having him model one outfit (or just a pair of pants really), but then remain on stage looking sexy and menacing with a shiny baseball bat for the entire show.
5) Lower your first models onto the stage shirtless and pressed against each other by ropes. You can afford this because you haven't fed the female models remember.

This photo is of a bunch of young guys doing a nude interpretation of the Haka. The Haka is a dance that New Zealand Maoris do and New Zealand sporting teams traditionally do to intimidate the opposition. These guys don't look like they are doing it properly but I'd love to see a big bunch of muscled rugby guys doing it nude.
I tried to find the clip of one of the NZ rugby boys doing it in a towel for Dieux Du Stade but couldn't track it down.
